Derek = Berserker
Am I the only one who sees a similarity in these two scenes?
What if Derek becomes a Berserker and is brainwashed by Kate and forced to do her bidding – it is something I can see Kate doing – and Derek’s used to having bad things happen to him. It also makes Derek leaving to Mexico with Kate make more sense. I couldn’t see him willingly going along with her.
Lydia: “We’re here for Derek Hale, we hear he can be bought.”
Maybe this isn’t a hostage/kidnapping situation like I first thought, but Lydia and Stiles are acting like clients paying for his “mercenary services” to get Derek out of there. (and Stiles will be the one to snap Derek out of it)
The season is comming to its end and with Derek loosing all his powers I think it is more and more possible that he is one of these Berserkers. Like he got somehow devided in two parts. And while the Derek in Beacon Hills becomes human, the other Derek who is a Berserker looses his humanity. Something like that. Who knows. I hope Derek comes back after probably dying in the finale.
I just went and re-watched the trailer and the promos. Kate has two berserkers with her and those two seem to be somehow helping her. But, apart from that screenshot of Scott, the berserkers never seem to be fighting Scott’s pack, they are always fighting the bald guy, who I believe is one of those assassins Stiles is talking about. Also, I can’t really be sure, but I think that, excluding the mouthless bald guy, there are two more bald guys on the trailers.
Point is I don’t think Derek will go with Kate willingly, I think he would never do that. And, even if, by any chance, he became one of those two berserkers, we don’t have enough evidence on the trailers that the berserkers are the enemy. Hell, we don’t have enough evidence on the trailer that Kate is the enemy!
From what I can understand, Kate is apparently searching for “The Benefactor” (whoever he is) and, apparently, using her berserkers to torture and kill some assassins she seems to believe know who is “The Benefactor”.
I’m wondering how exactly Kate is able to control the berserkers she has on her side; whether they’re somehow being forced and what would happen if they break out of it.
Kate will always be the enemy to me. I love Kate character and I love Jill, but I don’t see how this season will end with her alive, not after what she’s been involved in.
I guess we’ll see how everything goes down in a week’s time!
Hmmm, I watched it maybe twice, but I am trying to stay away from direct spoilers this time around, which will probably be why I mostly come here since it is mostly theoretical and academic. But, as I understand it, Kate is or is connected to a Nagual which seems to be a person basically considered a witch who depending on the time of day and the person herself depends on what type a person as to what shape they take (sort of like the kanima, but less obligated to anyone) and would seem exactly the type of thing that Araya’s hunter group would hunt for as their primary target (as opposed to werewolves). But if she is witch like, and this show likes to actually give its female characters some ability to control others, the creatures we see could basically be the Oni but more along the lines of protectors.
I doubt Derek is under any control, but I could see her presenting the threat of the Benefactor to him and he agreeing that finding the Benefactor is a better use of time than just dealing with the assassins. But I almost wonder if the Benefactor ever approaches Derek with kind of a spin on Jennifer’s plan. Derek as protector/guardian of the pack, like, a listen, your little brother/mentee is fine. We might have an issue with some of his ‘reformed’ pack members (probably Stiles and Malia from a distance) and we think Kitsune are dangerous, but we are fine with the idea that the only Kitsune is a good kid, her power is one that can control werewolves, and she is so totally following in love with Scott, and they overlook Lydia, but they are kids, you could help them out in their supernatural life by joining my league of assassins (giggle, I miss you Arrow) and with the money I pay you, you could help out the kids in their human lives.
Wow, that’s a big, confusing load of very interesting information there, Kate! I would love to see each single part explained, it seems awesome! (^_^)
I actually was majorly protesting Derek having anything to do with most of this stuff because I feel like it is some sort of cross retread of both Jackson and Stiles and even probably closer to what happened to Allison when Gerard had control over her but the more I talked myself out of it the more I was like, crap, it makes sense.
Hmm…I suppose when you factor in their insistence is a back to basics/stripped down thing and one of the themes they did first season, but really to not good effect because I never particularly doubted that Derek was what he introduced himself to Scott as, his brother and hence always ultimately on his side, but that we want to trust him but just don’t know if we can. That is very first season. And it might also jive with at least my wikipedia reading of Nagual, which I guess is what Kate actually is, sure they are shapeshifters, but they are actually considered witches, so being able to control Derek would make sense. And I guess it would make sense when you think a common theme of every season except Season 3A is how far do you go if it is someone you care about that is the danger. And while making that be Stiles pretty much put everyone on the same page to save him (though Mrs. Yakamura and Chris were a little more to the okay we have to kill him bandwagon), it might make it more dire to have it be Derek since that might make a bigger debate since of the current cast, Scott might be the only one trying to save him and Stiles might for Scott and because he remembers what losing Derek did to Scott in 3A (aside from any Sterek issues).
My anti argument, seriously, another core cast having their will taken away? That might annoy me to no end. Plus, I am kind of set on what I am calling boy number 3 being a Beserker since clearly they are making an appearance since Chris mentioned them twice last season. That seems sort of like hammer over your head foreshadowing. I think it boy number 3 because Liam is going to be a werewolf and Mason is his best friend and they are supposed to be mini Scott and Stiles and there is a girl who I think is supposed to be Liam’s love interest. What I am vaguely more expecting is that Derek thinks he is being helpful and might let Kate do something to him in effort to stop the Benefactor before he can tempt anyone. I mean, other than that one scene, I don’t know if we see Derek in the trailer or anything else at all. Geez, I am talking myself into this idea. I keep having the scene where someone seems to be attacking Melissa, I’m guessing Scott separates them and she sends Scott after him. Eek.
